Glad I spotted this one - finally the production/cast to get me to make the trip down south for a weekend.  Better half wants to combine it with Wicked but might try and extend it to 3 nights and add something else as well if anyone has any other suggestions for mid December.

AAArrrrgghhh!  Went to the Donmar website today intending to sign up for their "Friends" scheme to get the priority booking to find that due to demand they can no longer offer priority booking for Othello to anyone signing up after Monday just passed.

Anyone got any idea what this will actually mean in practice?  Is it likely there will be very few (or even no) tickets when it comes to public sale, or will it just be that it will be poorer seats and Friday/Saturday sold out?  It has a decent run (December to late February) but it seems to be a small theatre.  Anyone prepared to guess if I'm likely to be able to get tickets for a midweek performance? (figure the December trip is probably out and we'll have to wait until Jan/Feb)

Any thoughts/advice appreciated.

How unusual - there must have been a huge demand!

I don't know if this is the case for the Donmar, but many subsidised theatres have to save at least a percentage of their tickets for public sale, so maybe you will be lucky.

Nothing like a film star to get theatre people excited, eh ?

Funny thing is, I'm dying to see it but only for Reilly and Ejiofor, and not McGregor. Not that he's bad, but the other two are just a different class.

Yep, Ewan McGregor is a nice bonus as I think he'll suit the role, but it is Ejiofor who is the main draw for me too.

Argh, I thought that PUBLIC booking was open for this from today...I got up early to get tickets and everything! (My sister said she'd kill me if I didn't get tickets for us.) I thought Supporters' booking had been open for ages...but no, I have to wait another month. It's going to be sold out, I know it. sad.gif
