If Helen has heard wrong, perhaps you could inform us of the truth?  I presume you know it!

Certainly - the cast are contracted until July (presumably including Adam Garcia?)

Miriam Margolyes leaves at the end of March.

AFAIK they haven't started auditions for new cast yet - I think a lot of the present cast will stay on.

Helen's last is most deffinatly 14th July. Adam apparently isn't sure yet his contract runs out then but he might extend.

14th July is cast change - new cast start on the 16th.

Auditions start either this week or next, can't remember which.

How can auditions start when they don't even know yet which of the cast are staying or leaving? Or is that normal procedure?

normal procedure.
they audition for every role (well, all the ones that could potentially be leaving - ie, they're not auditioning for mme morrible now, because they know whatshername will only just have started) and then by the time they get to the final rounds, they've got a much better idea of how many people are going and can make offers...

So in theory then, someone could spend lots of time and money auditioning - getting through to the last few etc - only to be told there's no part for them?

Seems to be an incredible waste of time and resources.

But I suppose the casting director and audition panel will be glad of the money they make out of it!
