but given that some people dont decide until a matter of a couple of weeks before their contracts end, it would be impossible to fit in a casting process after they know for sure who's going.

and plus, often if people aren't offered roles because too many people stay, they can sometimes get called back for the next recast with a view to offering them a part..

not to mention, not everyone who's offered parts takes them so they have to have back ups.

I think with Wicked the cast would have to decide well in advance (longer than "normal") if they are staying as the costumes take so long to make.

i doubt they will make new costumes for every new member of the ensemble.

In broadway, we got told on the tour, that they make costumes for every new cast members because the designer apparently likes them personalised to the person but I don't know if they do the same for the London show or the others
