A word for Jennifer Ellison... saw her yesterday and thought she played Gloria superbly, great timing and physical presence. Thought I'd better say so, because I get the impression she's not best liked on this board.
No idea why she's JE is not liked, because I thought she was terrific when I saw this on Friday night. So was Tracy-Ann Oberman and - especially - Neil Stuke, sublime in the Mark Rylance role. (Was Rylance really better than this? He must be superhuman if so.) Kevin McNally was OK, but Jean Marsh seemed to be feeling her way as the maid. A few frayed edges - particularly in her duologue with Stuke. I guess she's only just joined the cast...?
I laughed myself silly (which is sad, really, because I was there on my own, having gone on impulse after a London meeting). This show is a blast.
