Another forum I post on, www.musicals.net, has a history of a LOT of trolling problems. They have a nice function on the board where there's a button in the corner of every post, and clicking it alerts the moderators to the presence of a potentially problematic post. They have several moderators, UK and US mostly, I believe, who will deal with any problems swiftly.
As Matthew Winn said, closing down overnight isn't necessary as not many people will find offensive posts at 4am, and, with a good selection of moderators, the posts can be deleted by 8am. It's just a matter of WOS assembling a moderating team whose internet habits are complimentary - someone who's habitually online first thing in the morning, someone around during the daytime, a few people on early evening, and someone who's on late (I'm posting at 12.30am, so it's not like there's not people around!) I'm not saying Mods need to be patrolling the board constantly for a set period of their day, every day, but having people likely to be around is vital. Also mods can recieve email alerts of any problems, so can be on hand when needed.

Yeah I know but that wasn't the image I was referring to. The horse one was just about within the realms of what could be called 'normal' (albeit niche) porn. The second link was just beyond definition. Sounds like you didn't see it which is a good thing. I posted a massive warning when I was unlucky enough to see it (the link was my name so I looked) but it's difficult to know what to do in that situation. Sometimes a warning makes people want to look.
