A wind up surely? ! Please put me put of my misery. Ok, she can act.. a bit. But the whole publicity scenario will be nauseating. What next? Strictly Come Hamlet with different celebrities having a go at Gertrude or Claudius...

I wouldn't worry too much. This was just tabloid talk. In the same piece, they were saying that Sienna Miller will be Jude Law's Ophelia. Way too overcooked, even for tabloids.

And Billie Piper doesn't think she is ready (which only shows that she is a smart woman). From an interview at The Times, a few weeks back:

"...Her big mate, I say, David Tennant, Doctor Who himself, is going to the RSC to play Hamlet. Why not get herself cast as Ophelia? “It would scare me far too much,” she says, suddenly panicked. “I can’t. I can’t. I think I need to stay away from the stage for a good couple of years. The last time was just so scary, I can’t tell you.”..."
