Considering Rhdyian had two minutes to get across the essence of the Phantom on the show he did an amazing job. Have you actually heard previous Phantom performers. Crawford was atrocious. I only now love the show because of Rhydian's performance. Phantom performance
Rhydian was at the Birmingham Conservatoire and was a star student there getting the leads in their productions e.g Jekyll and Hyde and Merrily We Roll Along and had brilliant reviews. The same goes for his operatic roles while there.
Even the reviews of his earliest performances singeld him out. Thanks to one of his fanites for these quotes:
Ironically, it was one of the smaller roles, Rhydian Roberts' Morales, which conveyed genuine depth of masculine charisma.
Rhydian Roberts' charismatic assumption of the Kelley role, at once threatening and attractive, makes Byron Jackson's Deeappear one-dimensional in delivery and colour.
Rhydian Roberts (Gugliemo) whose earthy baritone is matched by a commanding stage presence.
Rhydian was born to play Phantom. I hope Lord Webber realises that a lot of people are now looking forward to seeing Rhydian in the role. I'd be gutted if he didnt get it.
