What exactly is that reply supposed to mean?  I really hope it wasn't intended as geographically rude as it came across, just because I don't LIVE there doesn't mean that I don't spend a heck of a lot of time in the UK, and I do see quite a lot of plays there. Or were you implying that people who live outside of the UK aren't supposed to use the WOS site, and so has no right to ask for the return of a very useful feature that used to be available? Why should it not include the names as a search option when it did so before? Yes, I understand that it *might* just be temporarily gone, but I'd like to know that for sure and if it isn't temporary WOS needs to know that a lot of users found that particular feature invaluable.

And I see that you've decided to remove that post - why not leave it where it was?

Gavin, that site search doesn't seem include the listings, only reviews, I tried searching for people who I know will be in upcoming productions, like McKellen in Lear or The Seagull and it found no listings at all for any of them.

Well it dragged up this when I searched for Ian McKellen. http://www.whatsonstage.com/index.php?pg=2...=E8821148400450

I don't know what more you want it to do,but it seems to work perfectly for anything I put in.

I was referring to the post which you have now removed, the one where you posted the pic of the UK and said that this is what the site is for.

Sigh, that is an article about McKellen, not a listing. What answer do you suppose a search for minor actors who don't have articles written about them will turn up?

Yes, but I never said that I couldn't find the search function, I said that it didn't include all the search options that were available in the old system, so why post that picture at all?

The Stage site might be crap but at least their search function includes names as a search parameter.

Hey, Jenny_tyr,

Do you  happen to have a link for that site? At the moment I feel like running around in the dark while trying to find out something about my favourites. Rather unpleasant situation but I guess you know what I'm talking about.  wink.gif

Cheers, Rikki

there's no need for everybody to get quite so heated!

wos are effectively having to rebuild the site.. the option was that they left us with absolutely nothing until the WHOLE site was reinstated. to be honest, i'd much rather do it this way and have bits and bobs reappearing as and when they manage to work on them.

though i'm no techie, i would imagine searching through a massive database for actors and their relevant shows is more technically demanding than just searching for key words (such as names) in reviews - reviews won't alter as time goes on, only become more plentiful. a database of shows and people in them will be constantly changing.

jenny, if you feel so strongly about it, i'd suggest writing to wos instead - they're far more likely to be able to give you a definitive answer than any of us.
whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should
