Ok... so I walked past the Shaftesbury Theatre today so see signage up all over the place for 'Grease'!?!?!??!.....

Walked to the box office and there was a sign up saying booking was open for Fame (which is obviously what has been announced as going in)...

Didn't have time to go in and ask what was going on.... anyone know?!?!?!?!

Isn't Fame going in as a limited run? It is booking to 1st September.

Do the Grease signs say at the Shaftesbury Theatre - or perhaps are they just using it (confusingly) as a billboard?
The engine roared, the motor hissed,
And who could see that the road would twist

Me thinks they are using the shaftesbury theatre fro the television show- YOU'RE THE ONE THAT I WANT. The billboard does have ITV 1 written on it. Fame is going in to the shaftesbury later in the year- Grease is allegedly going to the piccadilly and who knows where joseph will go!!!

As the other posters have said, The Shaftesbury is being used for the London auditions for the ITV show Grease is the Word. The interesting thing is though, the date that Grease is meant to be opening is July so I think there is a possibility once Fame finishes its limited run, Grease could enter The Shaftesbury.

The Shaftsbury would have a real hit on their hands then.  tongue.gif

You missed out an "s".
I have always hated eggs. I remember back when I was a sperm I tried to head-butt one. It did not end well.

It will be a hit intially anyone who watches the TV program will want to see it and anyone who doesn't know much about shows will just know the name grease so will go and see it, it's like Chicago I don't think it's a great show but it keeps running because people know what it is. Not that I'm saying Grease won't be good who knows. Everyone knows the film of all ages so it will be a popular show

seems likely that Guys and Dolls will be closing in July, so definite scope for Grease to go to the Piccadilly.

i assume something must have its eyes on the shaftesbury for september though, if fame is so decidedly only going in for a limited time only..
whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should
