Moving on for a second from the definition of fringe, does the new site mean that Whatsonstage will actually review fringe productions in future - rather than ignoring them and only reviewing shows at the funded venues?

In answer to this question, yes, the whole aim of the new microsite is to cover Off-West End/Fringe shows that wouldn't normally feature on the main site. Similarly to our dedicated regional sites, the purpose is to provide information on venues and companies that are producing unique and engaging work, but don't often get a look-in in the mainstream media.
