I think it is necessary that the locations/years title cards are shown. Not even the cinematography can show the Eiffel Tower to indicate that we are in Paris.

If there was one thing I did not like about the 25th Anniversary Tour was that it was missing those title cards. When we saw it we brought my Grandmother along to see the musical for the first time, and she desperately needed to look at the synopsis in the programme to understand where and when the musical had jumped to.
My reviews can also be found at "A Night at the Theatre"

Does anyone know when the film is due to be released in the UK?  I'm assuming "Christmas 2012" is the American release date?
I can't think out of the box as I don't have a box to start with.

I thought I would include another version of the Les Miserables movie trailer that has also been released recently. Although most of the scenes look the same, there are some minor differences and near the end, there has been included Eponine's reaction during the song "A Heart Full Of Love" which I personally found quite heartbreaking. It definitely shows Samantha Barks' fine acting.

Me too. Honestly, I've watched both clips- both the short and extended version and not only did I get goosebumps, but the hairs on my arm literally stood on end.
Don't we get to be happy? At some point down the line, don't we get to relax without some new tsuris to push me yet further from you!

I've been following the progress of this since Tom Hooper was announced as Director and before they'd cast any of the roles!
Bar the brief Taylor Swift episode, it's been amazing to watch the production progress.
And now we've had several snippets of footage I'm even more excited for January!

I'm assuming it's Aaron Tviet we hear in Red and Black in the Austraila Today clip but it's quite hard to tell. It sounds brilliant though!
