This should be good. However, it's often done - last seen at the NT in 2002 - and I'm disappointed it's replacing the less frequently produced The Way of the World which was originally announced for this slot in the NT's 2011/12 programme.

Do you have knowledge of this, Pharaoh?

Comedy of Errors is running until at least March (because NT Live is on 1 March) and Olivier doesn't often have three plays in rep. Also, it would be very unusual for them to have two 18th century comedies in rep at the same time. Or even in the same year. Still, I'd be glad to be wrong on this one.

No, no knowledge. Merely a guess, because they haven't announced that The Way of the World had been cancelled. As you say though, a bit odd to have two 18th C comedies in rep!

Didn't they release a dvd of the lasat production? I don't remember much about it - I did see the dreadful comedy about Goldsmith that they had it in rep with.

The Way of the World is in a different league as a play and requires a very good cast; perhaps they've just found the couldn't get the necessary talent.  A shame.

Agree. The NT have done two productions of She Stoops before - I think the first one was marginally better (Tom Baker and the very funny Dora Bryan) - no idea why they're doing it again.

However, they have also done Way of the World twice too, neither of which I saw (the later one was with Roger Allam and Fiona Shaw)

I saw the Tom Baker one on tour - hadn't registered it was an NT production. It had Hywel Bennett too. It was more than 25 years ago though.  There was a Way of the World around the same time with Maggie Smith and Michael Jayston.

I assume this will be one of their broadcast production?

I'm no longer disappointed because The Way of the World's at Sheffield Crucible from 2 - 25 Feb with Samuel Barnett, Deborah Findlay, Sinead Matthews...
