Ah yes, forgot about Ayckbourn. But then did anyone find the recent Seasons Greetings revival funny?

Yes, very much so. I loved it. Ditto Flea in her Ear, which if I recall correctly, several critics (Telegraph and Times I think) said was not funny at all.

The recent Lend Me a Tenor I found myself mildly amused at points, surrounded by people who found it achingly hilarious.

Yes, very much so.

Wasn't a fan of War Horse, while I greatly admired the puppetry, I was quite bored throughout and it felt unnecessarily long..

The History Boys - annoying, full of plot holes and inaccuracies and did we really need to see Bennett's defence of paedophilia again in The Habit Of Art?

Oh forgot that one, had an argument after seeing it about how if I had written it rather than national treasure alan Bennett then the Daily Mail would have been hounding me as an evil sod.

Count me as one of five people who couldn't abide One Man Two Guvnors. Lazy writing and disingenuousness are not and should not be substitutes for proper punchlines and a little character development.

Still looking for someone else who was praying for Jerusalem to end  :o

I didn't much like Anna Christie either, except for Jude's pecs   On the subject of the Donmar, Richard II was a bit of a bore too.

Looked back through to 2008 and didn't find anything, there are quite a few times where I got a lot out of things which many didn't take to though. Maybe it's that I don't see things that I know I won't like, I steer clear of Ibsen for that reason (ah, there's one, 'Doll's House' with Janet McTeer, left me cold).

I don't know how I'd cope with disliking so much that I saw, it must be an expensive and depressing life.

Well I was, its at least 30 minutes longer than it needs to be but whilst I didnt get caught up in the rapture around it, it still entertained thanks only to Rylance - take him out and it would be a disaster of Imogen Stubbs proportions.

I try and avoid stuff I know I am not going to enjoy - it is a waste of precious time and money. Anything by Ayckbourne I avoid for this reason.

I try and support new writing but am frequently dissappointed. Recently The Habit of Art by Alan Bennett. I just know if I had written the same piece with my name on it - it would have been rejected out of hand and quite rightly. Jerusalem and Clybourne Park are another two examples where I was distictly underwhelmed.

Perhaps I am hard to please but I can frequently feel the "odd one out". It is a comfort to know I am not alone!
