They must be doing it on Bway first, if it takes place in NY...??

So will he rehash all the old Phantom music or find some Puccini he hasn't used yet?

I guess as it's a sequel all the old music would fit but still ...

Broadway has been very good to me. But then, I've been very good to broadway.

Surely it will encompass some of the musical themes of the original but if it is not set in an opera perhaps the musical style will be changed.

Perhaps one of the worst ideas in the history of musical theatre?

Surely if it's not opera someone'll need to change the title.

How about .............Phantom of the Ragtime?.............. Anyone?

Phantom of the Flopera? Phantom of the Composer Who Has Run Out Of Ideas?

The Phantom Menace?

That's a bizarre theory....

Plenty of shows are set in different places than they premiere....Phantom, Witches of Eastwick, Beautiful Game, etc etc etc etc etc

I won't be called a baggage!

Yeh that's true, it doesn't matter where its set. Oh dear, I think Phantom of the Opera is big enough as it is without having to ruin the whole story/show/idea etc with a sequel. They never work! I wish ALW luck however, as trying to pull this one off with success is going to be a challenge!

I really can't understand why ALW would want to do a sequel at all, but if he does I sincerely hope he ditches The Phantom of Manhattan for it's basis.  I read it over the weekend, I found it boring and very silly and it has the Phantom at one point disguising himself as a clown to get around, I hope none of my favourite Phantoms are tempted to reprise their role!
