War Horse is bigger than an average play so would need to tour bigger venues.

It's great news for a producer though if you can find a play which sells well in a large venue as the costs of mounting and running a play are FAR less than a musical so the potential profit is far greater and the break even figures far lower. It is a recent trend - plays never used to play these big theatres ....a bit like musicals never played arenas! Do I detect a trend here?

Seems a bit big but then again One Man Two Guvnors were successful at the Adelphi.

Yes the producers have a big hit on their hands with this - it will transfer to a big theatre in the WE. It appeals to the female theatre ticket buyer.
