No accounting for taste!
I don't particularly enjoy musical theatre snobbery as there is room for so much. There is room for class, drama, comedy etc. And for the record, Merrily We Roll Along now has more five star reviews than any other west end show... ever. For me, some of the finest musical theatre isn't built to last as a long running show. Jason Robert Brown's work highlights that for me.

You're wrong about merrily having most five star reviews ever

They took ads reiterating how bad the notices were but the public loved it, obviously not enough of them at £95 top

There was a poster quoting five 1 star reviews for Viva which "cleverly" put the five 1 stars underneath each other so they could be misread as a single 5 star review.

Yeah, and Jennifer Saunders said that the critics - ' 5 middle aged men' - hated it but that they were sold out until June. Which is possibly her funniest contribution to the show, given that young female critics hated it too and it was on sale at TKTS at a discount when she said it.
