I never had any problems with the Staff, but then again I've only given them most of my business over the Internet. Their delivery is sooooooo quick. I was, however, annoyed - like above - that I ordered something listed as in stock from the website, only to be told it was a deleted item. I then check again 6 months later and it was still listed.

Has anyone else had a problem with broken mail order items too?

Yes! I bought a keyring and the main fob broke off, so I wanted to re-purchase it. It was listed on the website but they emailed and said they were having no more in but the item was listed for months and months after on the website!

If they fail to address these issues they're going to go the same way as on online store as their store itself is going!

Why not retain Dress Circle as a social meeting point for the musical theatre world by refitting it as a coffee shop or a shoe shop with a musical theatre ambience - decor, background music, etc. The current staff could be retrained and retained - they'd soon be up and running and readily sneering at their customers' choice of beverage or footwear.

I love that idea. With extended or bigger premises they could also stock and sell some theatre stuff.

I have purchased many CD's over the years from Dress Circle although less recently. I am clearly not the only one who found going into the shop like gate crashing a private party between the staff, who were reluctant to break up the gossip and bitching in order to take your money and at the same time sneer at your choice of CD as not being the current "in" off broadway cult smash that one of them had seen last week. So no, not surprised it is closing.

As I've said, I've never had a problem there. It would be sad to say that this shop failed because of poor customer service. Customer service is my specialty along with many others. Maybe they shouldn't have hired 'Theatre specialists' and instead, 'people' specialists!!

The shop became an icon of our business, the staff were great characters and we've lost it and them, like many things money and greed (rent in this case) dictate, yes I know cd sales are dwindling but it's all such a great shame

Our business needs quirky individuals, it's what makes it special, fill it full of dull, sweet accountants and it's buggered.....I say to Michael and the staff, thank you and I wish you all great happiness
