I wouldnt trust that 100% just yet as not the most reliable source, and I heard yesterday something else had got the Shaftesbury, unless its just a limited season before Hairspray. or its all changed again!!

I do hope its true though!

Shaftesbury Theatre!!!!!

<catty>So it's not planning a lengthy stay, then?</catty>

I'm sure I saw "Fame" up at the Shaftesbury yesterday. It's getting so you pretty much have to turn up at the Shaftesbury on the evening and see what show they happen to have in that night.

Poor theatre. It deserves a decent show with a decent run.
I have always hated eggs. I remember back when I was a sperm I tried to head-butt one. It did not end well.

Fame runs until end of August, limited summer season. Hairspray then moves in with an opening night for Nov.

Names in the pipeline...well musical type names anyway!!

Will this be a hit in the Shaftesbury?! im not sure - hope so.

Thing with the Shaftsbury neither ticketmaster or See have good allocations of seats at that venue, which as the two biggest ticket agencies people go to doesnt help any show put their.

It's such a shame.  It's a lovely theatre.  Hairspray should fit right in!
I won't be called a baggage!

I saw Hairspray in previews on Broadway and also the Toronto production. I think it should do well in London, with its peppy retro Americanisms and upbeat attitude. And with the British tradition of men dressing up as women, I'm sure the English will love the overweight mother (played by Harvey Fierstein on Broadway and John Travolta in the upcoming movie version).
