There's always rumours about it closing, and although a closure wouldn't surprise me either, I don't see it happening before the tour starts. That said dirty dancing announced a tour in advance to run alongside the west end show, then it closed so who knows.

I believe that the next booking period for the West End show runs until 28th April 2013 - amid rumours of the show possibly closing this could (although I doubt it would happen) fit in with a tour starting shortly after?

The next booking period for a lot of WE shows runs to about that time, don't read anything into that, booking periods are not an indicator of anything really.

I've yet to hear any rumour about it closing that has any credibility/substance at all, so I continue to expect it'll be in the West End for a while yet.  It's still one of the biggest-grossing shows in London, and it doesn't need to be a sellout.

I remember there being discussion regarding possible closure a while ago on the Wicked thread.  I'm a huge sceptic of things until they are officially announced so doubted anyway, was just intrigued by the dates.  I wouldn't expect the West End production to close just yet due to all the reasons that have been mentioned,  but suprising things happen, sometimes unfortunately!

I don't think Wicked will close anytime soon, to be honest. The only rumours I've heard have been initiated by the Wicked tour news. So they don't mean anything. Wicked's still doing well, as far as I know.

Wicked is not closing and is showing no signs of closing! Wicked is still one of the biggest shows in the Westend and will be for a long time yet. The music and production is enough to keep it running for a long time yet so stop starting rumours

Music don't keep nothing running. Tickets do. Also, love, West End is not one word.

Yes, it could - but so could Les Mis, Phantom, Lion King, [insert name of long running/successful show here].  It is of course possible that any show could close.

Will it close? (different question) Not likely.  It's still grossing highly.
