I love Phantom and have seen it loads of times because of my job (I work in corporate hospitality) and I'm really looking forward to LND - if only for the fact that it would be something new for my clients to see. I have a friend who works in RUG who mentioned that all these casting rumours about Sierra and Ramin (is it me or does he sing off key pretty often?) are just a smokescreen. Christine will be played by a different American girl and apparently Phantom will be played by a "total outsider" - Someone who has never worked in musicals before! Couldn't draw my friend on any names but she would only say that he's very well known in film and theatre. Any guesses? And how will it fit with the "opening-in-3-or-is-it-2-cities at once" gambit? Or is it just London? I've never posted before but this friend is driving me crazy with her teasing!!! I must find out!  I thought it may be Michael Sheen as I know that apart from anything else he is a fantastic singer (he is Welsh...) Any other ideas? Help! I want to see the look on her face when I make the right guess!

I'd love it if it was Pierce Brosnan. He's got a beautiful voice.

Sorry if this is obvious but I feel for my own sanity I need to check - that was a joke right?!

It is Denise Van Outen and John Barrowman in London. Remember that both the Phantom and Christine are older roles in this show.

They are also doing a cast swap for both roles between New York and London after six months.

I heard that rumour a while back and both Denise and John denied it.

You are quite sane... of course it was a joke! The man sounds like a dog with bronchitis.
