Hey guys

Im very interested in getting into stage pyrotechnics, but im unsure on how to get my foot in the door.

Ive done a 'Pyrotechnics Awareness' course with Just FX earlier this year, and ive done a lot of learning on Risk Assessments,  and since then ive been calling and emailing my cv to theatres and pyro companies in search of work experience, to no avail. Im more than prepared to start from the bottom and work up from there!

Can anyone give me any advice or recommendations on how to get off the starting blocks?

Thanks in advance!!

Best bet would be to get in on general crew work in theatres, one route into that is either by knowing the techies alternatively working with good amateur groups who take shows into those venues (and networking). Once you're in, you've got much more scope for others to listen to you and pay attention to your CV.

Does mean you won't touch a pyro for a while (no company would let you anyway until you have vaguely proven yourself sensible), but it's the best route in I can think of.
