Oh right, I don't know then, I know that in Birmingham it was some projection type thing! I'd hope for a west end revival at a large theatre it would be the real thing!

Saigon has toured more than once, in the UK. Think first tour had a "real" helicopter, and all subsequent tours have used a projection.

When the revival was first talked about, it was to be the European tour set, which used projections, but I can see them adding the "real" helicopter back in if they intend Saigon to be in there for a year or more, as there wouldn't be a real reason not to.

The most recent tour used projections and eas totally different to the west end production. The first tour was a copy of the west end version and used a 'helicopter'

I'm hoping for a helicopter to be added back in then based on the size of the theatre! Maybe use the same wires Mary Poppins was flying on :P

hahaha he is likely to be correct though when you look at the les mis and phantom redesigns and take into account making it cost effective to then tour etc. i think we have seen the last of the scale of the original staging. time will tell though.

personally either would work for me, the original did look a little dated on tour and wasnt as much of a wow as it would have probably been in the 80s.

it closed because it wasnt selling and cameron wanted the theatre for witches

The projection spoilt it for me, it was the huge scale of the original that impressed.    Although I have to say they also had a european bloke singing the Chris part and his accent also ruined the tour for me, I couldn't hear him properly.
