The original "helicopter" Scene in Miss Saigon at Drury Lane was one of the most amazing scenes I have ever seen on stage. It will be a great shame if they don't do it in the revival but perhaps there are copyright reasons as to why they cant without crediting the original director - Nick Hytner?

It's a health and safety issue now. Somebody was injured by the helicopter in the original tour and since then, they're just unable to do it, both due to the health and safety issue and the cost of the insurance if they did want to do it.

I'm sure they can do it better than the projections! My youth theatre groups helicopter was alot better than their projection, and nobody got hurt! :P

Do we still have to pay the same price for tickets?

Whats ticket price got to do with it?  The show doesnt have to have a real helicopter (not that it ever was a real one anyway) to work, if it does then the show cant be very good in the first place.  As long as the production values overall are strong then they can justify West End prices

I just think if you can get a flying car in chitty or a glass elevator in charlie then a helicopter is doable!

Well, you probably have to pay considerably more, since it's been a good ten years since Saigon was last on in London...

I am sure that whatever happens this won't be a straight transplant of the touring version of the show if it happens.  Cameron Mackintosh is infamous for meddling with his shows for all eternity, and frankly the old helicopter projection looked pretty shit on tour, let alone in 2013.  The show already has a new song in it since then, and presumably has been spruced up a bit along the way in its other international incarnations - I would be very surprised if it doesn't have a few more tweaks and bells/whistles added when it eventually pitches up in the West End.

They should do it in the round, no sets, just rely on the material. Wouldn't last a week
