He was born in 1961 according to Wiki - which would have made him 28 when he started playing Chris.
Thankyou. Thought he was older than 23.
Hmmm will eliminate a few contenders mentioned. :(

Mind you who they want and who gets the part could be two different things

Sorry, but am I the only one who just doesn't like Laurence Connor's directing? I saw the new Oliver! and Phantom tours and thought in some places it was very over-acted, as was the Jesus Christ Superstar and Phantom 25th DVDs (Les Mis 25th was just walking towards the microphone but what I saw on YouTube of the new tour it still looked over done). I haven't seen Miss Saigon before but why must every new Cameron Mackintosh/ALW production have to have Connor directing it?!

Yes I thought that. Laurence Connor does seem to be the favourite at the moment with Cameron! But as Cam Mack is notoriously "hands on" I suspect that Laurence Connor shares Camerons vision of the piece and casting or simply does as he is told or has no "artistic differences".

I dont mind him. Oliver was good (no worse than Drury Lane).  Les Mis I didnt mind as it wasnt far removed from the original, my issues with that were some of the staging (barracade deaths less affective, no date or location info projected etc).  Phantom tour some things were better and some things (Music Of The Night) were not. I thought Phantom at the Albert Hall was stunning.

The issue with Laurence is he has never had a chance to do anything purely of his own, its always a slight altered version of whats gone before, and thats a little disappointing

Where was the casting call posted? The only one I've seen was in The Stage for ensemble dancers.
Seen:
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (UK tour, Wolverhampton), RENT 20th Anniversary Concert (Stoke-on-Trent), Evita (UK tour, Wolverhampton), Wicked (London), The Commitments (London), Les Miserables (London), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (UK tour, Birmingham)

Casting call went up on Spotlight day after the show was announced.

But it was an ensemble casting call I believe.
