Shame it can't take the place of the Lion King ... great show when it came out but hasn't the entire world seen it already?

Doubt it as Disney tend to go for theatres they work with before (as in the case for The Little Mermaid and Mary Poppins on Broadway) and they also have an agreement with Live Nation UK to put their shows in LN theatres with the exception of MP.

Playbill.com says Mermaid will open in Denver in July prior to Broadway in November/December at the Lunt-Fontanne (current home of Beauty and the Beast).
