Sooty & Tape are only in for the Christmas season. The River will go in during the Spring

Right, they both finish on 5th January and My Fair Lady doesn't finish until 26th January, so there may well be time for a limited run of something else to go in before The River starts.

If Jez Butterworth was, as he claimed at the time, offered every West End stage, but only the Royal Court Upstairs would do, what does that say about this transfer?  Was it really so important to give the play its moment in the miniscule before moving it across town or couldn't he have debuted it there in the first place?  If he's telling the truth, he must have been offered the Duchess, but decided it didn't do the play justice, so surely there's something second-rate about seeing it there?

And my maths is probably dodgy, but it was on for, say, 40 shows at the RC, to an audience of 85, so 3400 people saw it roughly.  The Duchess has a capacity of 479.  As such, after 7 shows at the Duchess the same amount of people will have seen the play after 40 shows at the RC.

Final thought - it sold out daily at the RC, I think.  Would it have sold out at the Duchess with the same length run but larger capacity?

I think he was skeptical, but he went to see Sooty In Space the other day and realised it actually could work. In other news, Soo has been offered the lead in the Polish play about abortions in the Royal Court Upstairs.

Nicholas, maybe he wanted to have the Royal Court behind the play and that's why they did it there first.

It could work at the Duchess. I think the size thing was a little overstated myself, would have been fine at the RC downstairs.

So there will be time for an 8-10 week run of something else then?

If My Fair Lady does transfer do you think that means the transfer for The River is off?

No.  My Fair Lady in May, The River will have finished by then.
If, for some strange reason you care what I've seen, it's all here:
