Oh that one passed me by. Thanks for the info.

I went to see this in Darlington last weekend. I didn't really know what to expect with it being advertisied as a "concert" but I was assured beforehand that it did have a story to it, which I was pleased about otherwise I could just have bought a 70's CD!! There is just about a story to it, loosely shoehorned in between the songs. It was definitely more of a concert than a musical, most of the songs didn't really fit the story at all. I had seen the musical many years ago but couldn't remember anything about it.

I was pleased Chico and Gareth Gates were in it - we knew we weren't getting the Osmonds in Darlington - otherwise I would have wondered what I was doing there! I thought they were both very good, as were the rest of the cast. Chico played the nerdy character very well. I didn't really like Andy Abraham, but I think that was more his character I didn't like rather than him. I thought Shane Ritchie (junior) was excellent in his role.

The show did get better for me in Act 2, it was slightly more musical and less concert, which I preferred. Overall I was glad I went, there were some fun parts, and it was a good afternoon out.
