They're doing a DVD of the live show recorded over a week.  Should come in handy to show investors for the tour if the London show isn't running.

Given the Victoria Palace is in the middle of a building site at the moment - it's a miracle if audience number have not dropped. It must be a nightmare for the producers and the theatre. A less well established "hit" would have no chance at that theatre at the moment.

Not really, the majority of people going wont know its a building site until they get there.  The majority of theatregoers care very little about what theatre a show is in.  They only worry when they need to find it on the day.

Also, would a multi award winning musical, based on a big movie, with a score by a pop legend, already with major movie producers, thats been running for years really need to convince further investors for a tour?  The tour has been in the works for quite a while

I suspect the tour would use the US tour set as that's finished it's run. I imagine they're filming a new EPK.

In what is a surprise considering they've only extended their booking period three months ago, Billy Elliot is extending bookings even further to May 2015. Shows normally don't book that far in advance so I wonder why they have done so.

That smacks of an attempt to gain a decent advance before deciding to close

You could be right, it did strike me as odd as it was previously booking until next June which was still far ahead.

Touring late 2014

The US tour has recently finished so I guess they will use that set for the UK tour. It is possible for them to have the tour plus a London production like Wicked and The Lion King but I imagine the next few months will be the deciding factor.
