Sad news! Closes on March 15. It was a bit dusty and cold but I feel like it never lived up to its potential, still a shame though!

What a shame, have seen a couple of good things there and its in better shape than some fringe places, especially the plentiful loos.

Agreed - a pity. Glad to have got to go 2 or 3 times, and really liked the scuzzy bar with its mis-matched furniture
Turn up the signal... wipe out the noise

Bet Mark Shenton's happy. Like Trafalgar Studio 2, he could never stop going on about how much the hated the place. Not sure if he ever got to the stage of boycotting it though, like he done for T2. Strikes me as a bit immature/unprofessional for a paid critic.

Whatever his Tunnels boycott position, he has reported their "shuttering" in a decidedly impartial fashion in his "international" report to the USA: http://www.playbill....hutter-in-March

I have an indelible mental image of enormous roller shutters clashing to the ground across the entrances to the Old Vic Tunnels at the end of their final performance on 15 March as terrified screaming audience members make a desperate dash to escape. Some stumble and trip and are doomed to a fate of eternal entombment there.

Did you not see the tweets between the two of them!?

@ShentonStage: Just seen a tweet that the @OldVicTunnels are closing...

Old Vic Tunnels replies with

@OldVicTunnels: @ShentonStage Must be a relif; you did hate the tunnels with a passion few other critics could match!

Made me chuckle!
This is my street, I smile at the faces I've known all my life, They regard me with pride.
