Really smart to cast Nigel Harman - not only is a huge talent, but the fact he's in Downton Abbey now must be a selling point for the producers of this too.
If I stay awake, it must be good.

Quick question - do we think they might do TV tie in and have the cast performing a number on the new series of TXF, or will it be too soon (even if they wait until December?)
If I stay awake, it must be good.

This casting though, talented as they are, wont appeal to the wider public.

Nigel Harman certainly will!! Huge star of Eastenders and, as has been mentioned a few posts above, just about to start in Downton Abbey! If being in those two shows doesn't appeal to a wider public, I don't know what does! ;) Plus the fact that he *is* actually a talented and known Musical Theatre performer! We don't know what other castings they have up their sleeves, too.

He hasnt always sold out a show since his eastenders days so he isn't a guaranteed pull, but i had forgotten he was now in Downton.

I think though the success of this will be down to whether the public buy into the concept of an Xfactor musical

I think this could be alot of fun. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my high end theatre. But now and again, if done well I do like a good laugh and bit of cheese!
