Before they changed the membership booking system, I had no problems at all with having membership. You could fax in your form and it was done on a first come first served basis. I was always organised enough to get my form in the day after I received it and so I got excellent tickets to the first date of my choice on each production. Then they changed it and booking the final Grandage season was a freaking nightmare. So I let my membership lapse.
I now use the £10 front row system for things there I want to see, and I have to say I loved both Julius Caesar and Trelawney of the Wells. I have high hopes for The Weir too. I think it's way too early to say whether or not the spark is gone. Grandage didn't hit the ground running and he had some head scratchers in his decade with the venue too. This seems easily forgotten since the last few years were so well received.
Has The Donmar Lost Its Spark?
