If any of you get the chance to see The Hired Man do go and see it.It is on in Colchester until 6th April and then Leicester after that.
Julie Atherton is absolutely incredible in it.David Hunter is also really good.
The set is minimalistic but the original music is stunning. How often do you see good use of a harp ?
The atmosphere is intense.
You could openly hear people crying in the auditorium - myself included.
It is very much in the vein of Once but I found it far more emotional.

One of my all time favourite musicals, even on the several CDs I have of it I can not get through it without feeling emotional. Some truly beautiful songs and choral work. I saw the original London production which was spectacular but in such the wrong theatre. I loved Goodall's Girlfriends but that seems to have disappeared without a trace.

I'm going to see this at the Curve. I literally have no idea what it's about but tickets are an absolute steal so haven't got much to lose.

Saw it over easter and Can't say enough good things.
Julie Atherton was amazing, utterly heartbreaking.

Me too - it was the Shaw theatre wasn't it? Like a mausoleum. Thought then it needed a better venue.
