This is too cruel....I have been looking at diary but it's really not possible...at least for the ones I wanted to see....which might be just about all of them!

I quite agree it would be a shame to miss any, so I'm going to see all six Weekly Rep plays. Today's casting announcement just adds to the anticipation. The Surprise Theatre showings Upstairs on Mons and Tues are all (twelve!) going to be livestreamed and then posted online for the duration of the Open Court season, so I'm looking forward to experiencing them at home. And the two Theatre Local shows are both known qualities, so it's off to the Rose Lipman and the London Welsh in July.

My thoughts exactly. Just not possible, sadly. :( Hope the best plays get given full productions with the same casts!

Surprise Theatre Monday 10/6

Spoiler Alert

So I attended the very first surprise theatre session at 7:30.

Started out with sounds of cats around the theatre and the curtain pulled away and reveal a man. It turned out to be Mark Ravenhill standing at a lectern just reciting verbatim other peoples opinions with images being reflected behind him (ie like a lecture style). The last recollection is about how a playwright wanted cats around the theatres which tied in nicely with the cat sound at the start.

I have to say, I was bored and this just wasn't my cup of tea. However, I wasn't as bored as to leave midway through and cutting through some of the stage to exit like 4 other individuals who made their exits about 25 minutes into it as everyone realised that the lecture was all we were going to get! (Speaking of which, when that happend, Mark Ravenhill made a quip "It gets better I promise you")

Great initiative by the Royal Court but honestly, I wouldnt' pay 10 quid to go back the other weeks if they are all the same. Happy to just watch it stream online.

It was very dull. How disappointing!
