As someone who lives in Lancashire, this is an interesting move. Especially as theatre is almost dead here. Most touring shows struggle to fill the much smaller Grand for a week.

Still I guess their market will be Hen parties and holiday makers.

I think it's a brilliant match of production and venue. Blackpool has been trying to revive its glory days for the last few years, which always historically attracted Mamma Mia's prime audience. This will hopefully bring people to the resort for a short break, boosting both the Opera House's fortunes for the season and the town as a whole.

That said, I was not expecting this announcement at all.

Guess it will bring in people not only from Blackpool but from nearby town and cities in the same way The Lion King has done for its UK Tour, I wonder if we will see a Mamma Mia! UK tour or will it not be until the show is done in London?
