Have to say saw this during its new york run and it was a brilliant show...especially the theatre itself and the very first opening minutes with the prisoner. Really set the tone for the humour. It will be perfect at St James Theatre a real gem of a space

The director is Jamie Lloyd according to the newspaper that's now been added to the pond (apologies to those who've just arrived - the explanation is in the thread)

Lack of Commitments then?

His bio in the pond still mentions The Commitments as one of his future projects.

Which date and did you have an option to buy for another date at the same price?

I had the option to switch to another date (subject to availability) or a refund.
Had booked a sat matinee, thinking it was the least likely time Id have a clash.

Now I’ve got some vague idea of my diary for next year I’ve tried to book but wow not at those prices. I’ll wait for the many discounts that come for all their shows

Why don’t they don’t just reduce the price of all the shows? Discounts don’t look good and steep prices are unwelcoming and emphasise the elitist view that theatre unfortunately has

Broadway has been very good to me. But then, I've been very good to broadway.

Last time I went there, i had a very generous discount and was sitting next to someone complaining about having just  paid  £40 at the box office to sit in a half empty theatre. I doubt she'll be returning there any time soon while the rest of us know that everything gets discounted.

The St James has never been more than half full the four times I've been there. Often I'd say no more than a third. Their prices are way too high (though the front row is generally v good value), and their artistic policy is all over the place, despite it supposedly being giving small scale regional productions a London run.
