Finally back from 44 degrees to the cool of London, but worth it to see King Kong in all its glory. Truly contemporary score and visually breathtaking. Hope it comes here some time soon. 5 stars from me on the blog http://www.frontrowd...-melbourne.html

I was in Melbourne over the New year and managed to see this production, the use and control of the puppetry was fantastic and the interaction between the cast and King Kong was very cleverly choreographed, in my option there are a couple of numbers that don’t they may need some development. Hopefully it will tour though as would love to see it again.

It'd be a hard show to tour with all the complex technology and sheer size of Kong.

I'd love to see this - the discussion on Musical Talk really whetted my apetite. Can't see where it's going to go from here though with it underperforming financially in Melbourne. Perhaps the producers will try and cut their losses and do it somewhere else, just like what was attempted for the Lord Of The Rings musical.

Did it underperform???
That doesn't bode well for a production that got worldwide publicity!

Yeah, King Kong is due to replace Spider-Man which is transferring to Las Vegas. King Kong does look really impressive and will no doubt change and shape the way technology is used in theatrical productions in the future.
