Since I've (shock horror) never seen Stephen Mangan in anything other than Birthday, I can't quite picture him not pregnant.

This news makes me very very happy.  And if by the end of the year I have seen Brian Cox, Toby Jones and Matthew McFadyen, I will be an especially happy little boy.

This doesn't really jump out at me but since it is coming to Richmond first so I may go and see it there.

Mmmmmm - tickets have gone on sale today at the Brighton Theatre Royal for this, top price £39.50 and premium seats £45 plus of course £2.85 "transaction fee" etc. etc. Prices really have shot up at ATG regional theatres. Better to wait for an offer in town.

Does it ? Not sure. Stage and TV adaptations of Wodehouse seem to be doomed to failure, the stories are purely literary conceits which work only on the page. Witness the recent lamentably bad TV Lord Emsworth. Even the terrific casting of Fry and Laurie produced hours of turgid TV. Another problem are the Wodehouse fans who will pedantically pick over even the smallest departure from the books and highlight trivial errors. By the way, that Guardian article says Jeeves was a butler. He wasn't. He was a valet.

I've been looking forward to a big play announcement recently - it seems as though it's been a while.but this doesn't seem that exciting I suppose. Maybe that makes it sound more promising as it doesn't have so much hype....
Sean Foley of course did what the butler saw as well.
2014 theatre: Blithe Spirit (Gielgud)  Booked: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Savoy)  Waterbabies (Curve)  View from the Bridge (Young Vic)  Birdland (Royal Court).
