We went to see Guys and Dolls last night and Claire Taylor was on as Miss Adelaide due to Samantha Janus being off, and we just wanted to say that she was fantastic! The best Adelaide we have ever seen (and we have seen quite a few...) It's such a shame that the show is closing because it would have been great to have been able to see her in the role many more times. Her performance was faultless..... her solo gave us goosebumps and her portrail of the character was believable, sexy and funny!

Have to say I totally agree. I have seen both Claire Taylor and Louise Dearman perform as understudy Adelaide's and they are/were BOTH fantastic performers. Claire's voice is amazing. x

I too was in London this weekend, & I saw Guys And Dolls this SatMAT.

Although I was initially a bit disappointed before the show when I saw a notice saying Samantha Janus was indisposed
(I enjoy her TV performances, & had hoped to see her onstage),
I decided to look on the bright side -
that I'd have an unexpected chance to see someone else new (to me) in a leading role.

And throughout my very enjoyable afternoon, I was very impressed by the performers -
including Claire Taylor as Miss Adelaide
.

I'd be happy to see Claire in the role again -
and to see her in other shows in the future.

It was lovely to see (and of course to hear!) Norman Bowman as Sky again;
and Lisa Stokke (new to me) was a joy as his Sarah.

Don Johnson (new to me - I'd never even seen him on TV)
made a very watchable, charismatic Nathan - performing as if with a twinkle in his eye.

Also new to me was Spencer Stafford, playing Benny Southstreet: he has a lovely voice.

The whole cast seemed to be really enjoying performing.

Anyone know how Samantha is?
