I see the greatest actor of his generation Benedict Cumberbatch in addition to favouring us with his valuable views on Egypt and the Miranda detention has said he's going to play Hamlet:

Well, obvious question is where ? I doubt NT would do one again so soon, maybe under the forthcoming Daldry/Boyle Five Year Plan. Maybe Greg Doran could squeeze him in soon by claiming that the current RSC Hamlet doesn't count as part of his 6-year cycle for the whole canon. I guess the most likely is a fantastically expensive West End (or Old Vic) production with a gun-for-hire director.

ATG booking system would crash.

This highlights a downside of Doran's plans, these star actors have no difficulty playing what they want when they want, none of them need to wait for the play to come up next on the RSC rota.

I think commericial production produced by Sonia Friedman or the Old Vic. The Almeida is a possibility as well.

I don't think they should be able to do this... I want to play this part so make it happen, not unless they are a seriously great Shakespearean stage actor. I don' think he is. It will sell I gather... not as well as anything with Tennant (currently seems to be the TV star to go to for a sell out theatre run. It will be an expensive west end run,

Nothing to do with his acting ability, but his name is a huge obstacle to his being taken seriously.

What part of Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch strikes you as silly?

Anywho, as long as he can do the Z episode of Cabin Pressure and lets me know how he survived that bloody fall, he can do what the hell he likes as far as I’m concerned.
