This topic has mysteriously vanished, so I started a new thread, to let people know Time Out has top tickets to this at half price (until Sunday):

I think it's well worth seeing, a dark Citizen Kane style epic, with really good actors,  though you need a high tolerance for long periods of narration. :)

I agree - maybe could have trimmed the opening sequence but I thought it was great

I left at the interval. It posed a question that I had no interest in hearing the answer to. The entire affair was obvious.

I wish I had done the same - it all felt so obvious and it could have easily been about 25 mins shorter.

You did well to leave at the interval.  Second half even more excruciating.

I presume a mod removed it because it was heavily spammed. It would be a delight to have it restored to our screens, if possible.

I am still not sure what to make of this. I loved the first bit, when his life is basically told by narrators but found the following bits less successful. I didn't find it boring, just a bit unbelievable and a strange weird quality to it. Hard to really root for any of the characters. I suspect it might crop up in my dreams....Front row involved quite a lot of looking up! Nice to finally meet Weez, who by chance was sat right next to us!

Like Latecomer, I loved the early narration of Gorge's life, and all the moments when the narrators took over the story (excellent performances).  But the actual scenes from Gorge's life dragged - they felt too wordy and flat and I would have loved to have taken a red pen to the text and dumped half the dialogue.  Basically, it was unfortunate that I found the narrators fascinating, but the actual characters I simply didn't care about - I want to be made to feel something, not just shrug my shoulders when anything happens, good or bad.  So, mixed feelings - not bad, but definitely not great.

Also, 8pm is a terrible start time for a play this long!

Can someone tell me what time the matinee ends as there is something I want to see at the Soho theatre at 19.15 and wondered if it would be a bit of a rush.
