She was on for the matinee yesterday and fabulous as ever, she's definitely leaving on a high.

Day queue was about 16 strong by 8.20 (I was a bit later than planned), but I got decent tickets anyway as it was a 2-show day.

Something interesting I've just seen on the Apollo Victoria's Twitter, in response to somebody asking why the theatre hasn't been lighting up green at night recently...

"...it hasn't been green for quite some time! We are working on a special project for cast change! Keep checking! ;)"

Sounds interesting, whatever it could mean!

Glad you managed to get good seats and saw Rachel.

Thanks :)

I have to admit quite a few of the rest of the cast left me underwhelmed, and really missing Louise and Mark!  Gina sung it well, but I wasn't so sure about her acting and a few of her phrasing and pacing choices, there were quite a few lines where Louise always got a laugh that just got no reaction at all yesterday (and it was a fairly full and pretty good audience), and she doesn't have the same dynamic with Rachel that Louise did, I only felt the friendship at the end of For Good whereas with Louise & Rachel it was evident from Popular onwards.  I wasn't that impressed with Gina's Popular either sadly, although it had its highlights.  The shoes line is missing too, which makes the shoe store bit of set a bit redundant and takes away the humour of the 'they're only shoes' line Glinda says near the end.  Overall she was fine, but not my favourite Glinda.

Wasn't impressed by Matt at all, he had good chemistry with Gina but that was about all - he didn't sing it with any real energy or passion and I didn't think his dancing or acting was great at all.  Half of his lines were hard to hear even in the front row and he seemed to just deliver most of them at the same fast pace.  As Long As You're Mine didn't seem half as emotional and tender as Mark & Rachel used to do it.

Lillie Flynn was a great Nessa, full of ire and malice as I think Nessa should be played, rather than sweet and innocent, and I've forgotten who was playing Boq but he was good too.  We had understudies for the Wizard and Dillamond who were both great.

I know I'm biased towards Rachel as she's my favourite Elphaba, but she was simply phenomenal.  She's changed how she handles a few bits of dialogue and lyric phrasing since Iast saw the show, some of which I liked and some of which I didn't, but her vocals were very strong as always, even in I'm Not That Girl which I don't normally think is her best song.  No Good Deed and Defying Gravity were out of this world though, the endings of both were astonishing.

The show overall seemed a bit sped up - have they always brought the classroom set on before What Is This Feeling has even finished?  Can't remember that happening before... Gina and Rachel nearly missed their entrances in One Short Day as well because that costume change has to be so quick now, Rachel was still fixing the neck of her dress as she ran onstage.

I have to agree about Matt's delivery of lines when I saw him- he seemed very quiet and pretty poor diction.

Quite a few times I've seen the actresses nearly miss their entrance for One Short Day, that is an insanely quick costume change!

I don't know if anyone saw, but Rachel posted a message on stagestatus thanking fans for support :) and said it's going to be one heck of a final night, which I don't doubt!

I really didn't like him much compared to mark evans (but I think Mark is near perfect... :P ) but I feel despite being vocally weaker, and the dancing being off which I think is very important, I felt he characterised the role better than Lee Mead. However, I am really not looking forward to seeing Ben Freeman who i thought was tragically poor in legally blonde! He seems to be a step down vocally, really didnt like his acting, so unless he nails the dancing i can see him being a disaster!
