Just read an article about Anne Crumb who was seriously injured in the original production of Aspects of Love - its says she recieved a substantial payoff. Wondered

1) Does She still perform,

and

2) have there been any other large payoffs for performers while on stage

She was indeed seriously hurt & in a wheelchair for a good while!

As far as I know, she resumed performing a year or so after the accident but I don't think she has worked in the UK since. I am happy to be corrected on that.

As to other 'payoffs', I think there was one on 'Saturday Night Fever' at the Palladium but can't think of any others.

Ann was seriously injured during a performance of AOL - not sure about a large payout though!!!

She resumed her role as Rose in AOL on Broadway the following year and has appeared in several musicals/plays on/off Broadway and out of town since then including the lead role  of Anna Karenina in Anna Karenina for which she received a Tony nomination

She returned to London in 1992 to appear in a concert version of Nine at the Royal Festival Hall opposite Jonathan Pryce and in 1997 played the lead role of Paula opposite Gary Wilmot in Goodbye Girl at the Albery.

She toured throughout the US in the lead roles in Man of La Mancha (1995) and Swing( 2001) as well as The Music of ALW.

More recently she has performed in music theatre and classical concerts in the US and Europe.

Baz, there was a fairly substantial payout to Anne, there had to be!

I was on the show at the time and remember it all quite clearly.

I worked at the Prince Of Wales a couple of years after Aspects was there, so my info is 2nd or 3rd hand..  but I heard that the accident was with one of the travelators that was used in the show,  the details are sketchy & ranged from her foot being trapped to her knee being damaged.

I heard that there was a payout, but again the exact details are hard to find.

The only big payouts I can think of recently were by producers to get people off the show so they could employ someone else!

Thanks for that Chorlton......it was both her feet, although I'm sure it could have damaged her knees through muscle/ligament damage or similar.

As I said she was in a wheelchair for quite a while afterwards, but even though she was wheelchair bound she still came and partied for the cast change!

PS Chorlton, what did you do at the PoW? PM me if you'd rather not answer on the board.

I believe there was a payout on Tommy when Hal Fowler got hurt and had to leave. Some unknown understudy called Nigel Harman took over his part.
