Unfortunately, it's a popularity contest based entirely on those prepared to vote. Carrie's huge internet following are the reason she'll win, not the role she's playing. As I've said elsewhere, hers was the best Eponine thatI have ever seen (and I first saw the show in 1990), so on that basis it's fair but I can understand why people might think it not for such a small role. Perhaps the category should be broadened?
Niall was on for Enjolras yesterday & was great. I think Enjolras gets lost a lot of the time; you know the words but don't always realise that they're his. Niall's distinctive look and great presence gets rid of that.
EmiCardiff; do you work at the BO? Why has the 'choose your own seat' facility been removed from Lion King bookings? I love rooting around for bargain seats online but I just sound like a pikey when I do it on the phone.
But I don't consider Wales Millenium Centre to be remotely backward in it's technology. It has access to the best of everything including booking systems. (I think it's right up there; especially having the WNO & Dr Who studio's on it's doorstep sharing technical staff & initiatives etc.) Mores the point that producers & promoters thrive on the publicity generated by such a clamber for tickets to an event, like you say...more akin to a pop concert. When it comes to Kenwright created granny fayre, I'm afraid I am a terrible snob...you got me.
Isn't Hugh Maynard about 15 years older than Al Brammer? Bit odd. Not sure why they'd be knocking around bars together in Saigon. John would be playing Chess in the officers mess while Chris went and banged anything that moved in a bar. What do these people have on Cameron?
