That is the single greatest photoshop I have EVER seen.

#297546 X Factor The Musical To The Palladium

That could work quite well.

Chenive: "Well I've lost the competition, and my caravan. Max and Barlow(?) (the dog) are all I have left. That and stars..."

Simon: "Well why don't you visit them?"

Chenice: What?

Cue current ending, but with a ton of smoke and lights to suggest Chenice, Max and Barlow are being taken off on an adventure with the UFO.

The comedic line from someone along the lines of "What the hell just happened in the last 10 minutes?!?" but funnier (I'm no Harry Hill) andddd curtain.

I've also recommended it to folk, and they've booked it too. Whilst we on here maybe encouraging other members to use the £20 seats, collectively were the smallest number and it seems those that have seen this already have recommended it. If the show can't survive on the £60/£70 ticket option, then it needs to rethink its pricing structure - but that's not my concern.

The musical will presumably last until at least Christmas, which will see it through until the end of the next X Factor series. I'm already anticipating that the weekly phone in competition will include an all expenses paid trip to London to see the musical, and a TV advert during the results show. Then of course there'll be the obligatory trip to the theatre by all of the finalists, who will then tweet about it, and gush about it on screen. They'll then have Liam O'Deary introduce a musical number from the show on the TV show.

Then if things are really desperate, they can cast a few finalists in the show - there's plenty of scope for a cameo during the 'Please Simon' number, as any of the ex contestants can claim to be re-entering the show OR claim to be a guest judge at the audition stage. They could also recast the plumber guy with maybe Joe McElderry.

Plus press night will be well covered in the media, more so than is normal for a musical, as they'll use their contacts to get as big a name to attend as possible. Plus of course it's almost 99.99% certain Cheryl Cole will attend, so it'll be well publicised.

So there's plenty they can do to ensure tickets sell! Personally I'd recommend they have top price capped at £50 a ticket, making it a bit cheaper than it's competition.

Working title - The Trenchman Tenors.

I may have made that up but offer it to Lee Hall for free.

Well, the interval alone was running at 1 hour 40 minutes the other day, they've now got it down to 1 hour 10, and hoping to make it  40 minutes by opening night.  Frankly Act 1 better be damn good if they want their audience to stick around that long whilst they set up Act 2!
A 40 minute interval?  Blimey!  Marti Webb has pretty much zipped through 'Tell Me On A Sunday' by then!!

#292261 Bad Behaviour At A Show

Posted hefferlump on 10 February 2014 - 01:05 AM

Ushering last week, I had to tell the same woman to turn her phone off FIVE times in the space of about ten minutes. In the end she was so rude to me for 'trying to ruin her evening' (clearly an evening not spent on facebook is a wasted one) that I had no choice but to get the house manager to speak to her at the interval. She didn't come back for the second half! She was in a top price seat, too. Why would you spend that much money on a ticket for something that you have no interest in paying attention to? She was the worst I've seen in a while but I'm still always surprised how many people find it completely unthinkable to sit down, be quiet and pay attention.

#283758 Royal Court New Season

Posted xanderl on 13 November 2013 - 06:00 PM

Looking at previous years I don't think there are fewer shows - certainly downstairs there are normally 6 main shows per year (along with a number of one offs and special events), and with this new season we'll have had 6 in a year following the Open Court season. It's also not unheard of to have a month or so gap.

You can see a list of previous shows on the "Whats On" page.
