Topics I've Started

"Putting It Together" (Guildford) & "Sondheim: Women" (London)

08 September 2013 - 05:42 PM

Just browsing twitter I found that there's a production of Stephen Sondheim's Putting It Together at G Live in Guildford coming at the end of the month for four performances. I'm surprised at how little this has been publicised, especially given the impressive cast list - David Bedella, Daniel Crossley, Janie Dee, Damian Humbley and Caroline Sheen.

Sondheim fans might also want to check out the upcoming Sondheim: Women at the studio in St James Theatre - another one I hadn't heard of, it seems there was a performance last night and another is scheduled for 28 September. Another impressive cast - Hannah Waddingham, Josefina Gabrielle, Emma Williams, Jamie Birkett, Zoë Curlett, Rebecca Lock, Fiona O'Carroll, Lauren Samuels and Lucy Williamson.

I thought I'd mention them in the same thread as I almost booked Putting It Together for the Saturday which would have meant missing the concert!

EDIT: I'm perplexed as to how some of the capital letters in the topic title have turned into lower case... apologies as I can't find a way to edit the title!

Liza, Liza, Liza - Tabard Theatre

22 August 2013 - 10:45 AM

I've only just heard about this and as a fan of Liza I'm rather interested, but a bit surprised the author hasn't told Miss Minnelli about the play. I've never been to the Tabard either, does anyone know much about it?

"The Tabard Theatre in West London will present the world premiere of Richard Harris’ new play, Liza Liza Liza from 5 - 29 September 2013.

Liza Liza Liza is a play that turns back the years, and peels back the veneer, on one of Hollywood's most compelling living icons. The professional and private lives of Liza Minnelli have experienced dizzying highs and crashing lows all ruthlessly captured and sold by the world's media."

Merrily We Roll Along To Get Digital Theatre Release?

28 July 2013 - 12:49 AM

Well as a huge fan of this production, and one desperate for a cast recording (that's me begging on the WoS outing Q&A!) this is excellent news.

According to broadwayworld.com and their sources, Digital Theatre were recording the penultimate performance on Friday for a future release. That's even better than a cast recording! There's surprisingly little buzz on twitter from the show account, Digital Theatre or the cast, but it certainly looks to be stronger than a rumour.

Fingers crossed!
