#301805 Forbidden Broadway Returns To The Menier For The Summer

Elaine Paige is always playing Forbidden Broadway on her radio show, perhaps she'll go to this a lot and laugh loudly.

#301626 Miss Saigon Revival Is Happening

Slightly off topic, but by chance caught a Front Row special on Radio 4 tonight. Boublil and Schonberg discussing how Saigon (and Les Mis) came about and the reworking for this production.

I found it really interesting, guessing it'll be on iPlayer for the next week.

Harry and Wills argue outside a club, Harry kills Wills with one punch, baby George takes to the throne and Harry is sent to the tower.

An invitation to the slips from Mrs Lovett?  Someone’s getting their money’s worth…

I’m going on Saturday myself, but it’s a family birthday so ditching them to meet strangers from the internet might not go down too well, much as I'd love to meet you all.  I will be playing a game of Spot the WOSsers, though, so wish me luck!  Hope everyone enjoys it!

I have more or less ditched my family in favour of WOSers....my children know where my loyalties lie.....

Interesting. I look forward to seeing this on Saturday.

Want to meet up Mrs Lovett?

I have NO idea why that's returning. It was 1/4 empty when I went. And it wasn't a great production either.

Shall I e mail the YV and ask them?!

All this has givern me an idea. Complimentary (included in ticket price) cloakroom phone charging.  Hand your phone in before the start of the performance, gets charged during the show so the owner can't play with it, collect it when they leave.
At least then nobody could use their phone during the performance!!

I love overproducing!  You see some amazing productions that way.  Huge budgets blown on excessive sets that were never going to be financially viable.  But some amazing theatrical memories!

Seeing this next sat. Never seen the play before. Wud I get more from reading it before hand or is it fine go go in virginal?

The production is not obscure and the narrative is clear, so I say don't read the text. Because they don't use many props, I 'd say it's good to know the setting: 50s, Brooklyn, docks, poor immigrants come to America illegally to work. Eddie - a dock worker who lived in Brooklyn all his life - and his wife Bea have raised their niece Catherine after her mother (Bea's sister) died. That should be plenty, you don't need anything else.

It's going to Garrick for a short run. I don't understand why it bothers so many people on here if it's a hit or not! I'm personally looking forward to it because I couldn't get a ticket at young vic.

I'm very excited for this, spoke to someone who saw a read through and they said it's very funny, done in a proper Shakespearean history play style with verse etc
