#296333 We Rocked You

Yes it had an utterly crap story and the jokes were beyond lame. A show where you had to leave your brain and any tastes of good theatre at door.

but such great music, delivered brilliantly.

The dvd arrived a yesterday - region 1. Underwood is a good singer for Maria but not a convincing actress...mind you, I prefer her to Connie Fisher. Moyer is execrable but the rest -esp Laura B and Audra M who are sublime. But i actually prefer it as a whole to the film.

Stunning score but a dull musical overall

Its a ITV Production this year, so brace yourself for advert breaks every second song, badly edited links and canned applause and laughter.

Well as long as the no longer competent and deeply unfunny and embarrasing Bruce F is not hosting....how he ruins Strictly.

How refreshing to read something positive about it on here! I'm mystified why people have it in for the show.

Oh the irony.

I am not too ashamed to spill the beans. After all it will become common knowledge in a day or two.

It is the UK premiere of  "Britney does Basildon".

The publicity blurb:

The heart-warming tale of a girl from a rough Essex upbringing, rapping and street-dancing her way to stardom on the Basildon nightclub circuit. From the opening number ("bling is my thing"), to the emotionally devastating act 1 finale ("the lovechild of my bro and me"), through to the 11 o'clock number ("to chav or chav not" - a number already predicted to become a musical theatre standard according to the workshop responses and the influential essextheatreworld.com forums) this promises to be a caravan park ride of emotions that will tug at your heartstrings.

Yes, Heather does no matinees.

Shame some stage performers are not what they used to be, when they deemed matinees to be worth doing!

I saw this for a third  time last week. Still good fun, and strong cast.

However, I still find the deliberate corpsing after "I believe" to be painfully unfunny. And it must be deliberate as they both corpsed again each time. Was the same in Hairspray during "timeless to me". I don't mind genuine corpsing, but when it is clearly "staged" it is more than a bit lame. Ok, perhaps for someone seeing it first time it is hilarious....but even so.

My local theatre is awful with single seats. I turned up 30mins or so before curtain up to get a ticket, but the only stalls tix available were either pairs or groups of four. They wouldn't sell me a single seat as it would leave another single seat, or a group of 3, and that's their "policy". How ridiculous is that, 30 mins before curtain up? They'd rather have 2 empty seats than 1.

theatres like this deserve to go dark for their stupid policies.
