I see. So touts provide a service enabling people to buy tickets they could not otherwise obtain because the tickets were bought up by touts. And we call this entrepreneurship.

What a stunning thicko.

But knowing that politicians approve of such wily ways of earning a crust, I shall endeavour to increase my income by reselling sweets liberated from the clutches of small children and charge their parents for child care cost for the 3-4 minutes it takes me to wrangle the little critters to the ground.

Due to a fair amount of british ballet audiences having encountered enough panto in their youth, Carabosse gets a friendly boo if she was good. Polite applause just means she wasn't an impressive evil fairy. Same for Rothbart in Swan Lake.

I had to shush someone in an otherwise well-behaved audience at the ROH and got a "Oh for ****'s sake" for my effort, but he did shut up for the rest of the performance so I count that as a win.

Does anyone still book for Netrebko and expect her to show? It's a nice surprise when she does show up, though.

Mr Terfel is doing the opposite of Netrebko and agreed to do more performances at the ROH, filling in as Scarpio in 3 Toscas in June. I took that as 'you win some, you lose some' and snagged a standing ticket for an extra Tosca.
