Not sure if it counts.  But I went to see a Meatloaf tribute act last night in Darlington.  A couple near the first made a huge commotion walking out after just two songs because it wasn't the real Meatloaf.  Quite why you would expect one of the worlds largest superstars to be singing on a wet Wednesday in Darlington on a £20 ticket beats me but they weren't happy and everyone in the stalls and on stage knew about it

I have never walked out and probably never would unless I found something wilfully offensive. I prefer to see the whole thing and hate waste (it rarely is cheap to see theatre these days) and I am not sure you can form a credible opinion of a production if you haven't seen all of it. I did hate Bingo and Saved in recent times and was tempted but I have my rules. Then agian I finish every book I start!

It is rude to walk out (other than through illness or other genuine necessity) if in doing so you disturb other's enjoyment. Hang on till the interval if you must.

#293121 Candide At The Menier Chocolate Factory - Christmas 2013

I saw the matinee performance of CANDIDE yesterday (15th February) and absolutely loved it! The Chocolate Factory was totally transformed and it was like stepping into another world. I adored the in-the-round staging –it was innovative and intelligent, making great use of the Menier’s space.

The cast offer THE best singing I have heard in a musical in a LONG time, and really bring this gorgeous score to life. Scarlett Strallen did a stonking job with “Glitter and Be Gay”, delivering the coloratura with aplomb. The chorus singing was particularly fine – “Make Our Garden Grow”, to my mind one of the greatest pieces of music ever written, was spine-tingling and well worth the price of admission on its own.

I would love to see this again, but can’t see it transferring to another theatre after the Menier run. It would need to be totally redirected and it would perhaps lose some of the magic that it currently has.

Just back from the second night in Manchester. WHAT A FAB SHOW!

I had no preconceptions about it at all, never even saw the film but I sat there literally with a smile on my space the whole night. And guess who the stand out performance was.... Rufus Hound and that was the last thing I was expecting. He's so energetic, very cute, the acting is great and the singing great too. He certainly shows up Robert Lindsay in that department.

All the cast were excellent. No weak links, loved Samantha Bond and the guy who plays the French guy. The costumes and design were gorgeous, it looks very very classy.

Got invited to a focus group afterwards and the feedback was pretty much 100% positive. Some sound issues bring the only real complaint (orchestra too loud on some songs, drowning the vocal).

I really wasn't in the mood for going tonight but so glad I did. Loved it.

Single seat bookers fight back

BEIJING (AFP) - Couples looking to enjoy a romantic Valentine's Day at one Chinese cinema will be out of luck this Friday, thwarted by singles who bought up all the odd-numbered seats.
According to the Shanghai Morning Post, a group of Internet users reserved every other seat at a Valentine's night showing of "Beijing Love Story" at a movie theatre in the city's Xintiandi shopping complex.

Whilst Bill may not put the same amount of money into a show as other producers, the casts don't put in any less effort.  To say you don't want to see something because it's a touring production is callous and shortsighted.
