#301300 Any New Newsies News?

Posted mjr on Yesterday, 10:30 PM

Im not so sure, firstly I don't recall any talk at all of Cinderella coming over and I doubt it will. Also I do believe there is a difference between going to see the local panto and going to see Aladdin produced by Disney in London's west end.

Yes, but from a TV perspective give the new productions and revivals the air time, not the old shows.

I agree with the above. Why do we need to see One More Day again? Scrap the audience choice awards performances and give revival shows full segments to perform in.

Shame they cut the medley from the revivals!

Putting it together did extremely well in that theatre. A shorter run I admit but sold out almost for the final fortnight!

Are you the one who wants it to be Oklahoma! with a well-structured story and character development, etc.?

Well, tough luck! It's top quality variety entertainment, and a good night out!
In your opinion, but what musical theatre lover wouldn't want to see a similarly well written piece such as Oklahoma comedy or not.   Whether you like the show or not that's your decision and choice, but don't start ripping into those that have provided suitable reviews and reasons as to why they may well be bored out there mind at this show. The fact that this piece is playing at the palladium may be to much for some. It certainly the weakest piece of theatre I have seen at the Palladium in my lifetime.

I did exactly the same lol.
Myself also, its like they had a lot of budget left and decided to just blow it on the most bizarre ending I have ever sat through in the theatre.

Completely agree with the above!

Its very impressive visually but for me that's about it. The second act needs a bit of work, the last portion of it is just a mess. The ending is just bizarre. I shan't spoil for  anyone  that's going!  I found the score very Sammy with there only being one or two stand out songs (I can't sing being one of them). But I think if you asked the audience to sing you a song outside the theatre they would struggle. The cast is very strong and I cant praise the design enough. Huge set pieces being used for minutes worth of production number before being sent off. It will be interesting to see how the interval problems work out. The director running on immediately after the end of the first act with no house lights going up made me think that they had known that there was going to be an extended interval long before the show began tonight. Noticed they werent selling the Upper Circle tonight. I hear Harry Hill was up there making notes. It was also notepad galore at the back of the stalls. I look forward to revisiting after previews have finished to see how it improves.

Interesting to see how many of these rumours turn out to be true and how long the interval really will be....

Billy Elliot is more than likely to close before the end of the year never mind transfer. I would have thought it a perfect theatre for something like King Kong perhaps kinky boots or something!

I saw this last night. I really enjoyed it. Its nice to see a ALW production that is small and modest. I can see why there have been mixed comments about the piece, but it really worked for me. It would be nice to see this show do well. ALW's writing since the Women in White has really hit a chord with me!

I thought it was more of a shame they concentrated on Thriller so much. Get that trash out of one of our greatest play houses.
